Dirk Lind is a songwriter and recording artist working in Neah Bay, Washington. He was the lead singer and songwriter for the east coast worldbeat band Baaba Seth, and is currently finishing up work on his first solo release, titled The Theory of Evolution.

The Theory of Evolution displays Lind's wide ranging talents as a songwriter, from the pulsing, horn-laden worldbeat of Home, to the string-drenched ballad Save Me, to the groove and crackle of All Away.

Dirk's CD will be for sale early in the spring of 2007. In the meantime, you can download some of the tracks here, in their entirety. Just click on the music link above.

Special thanks are due for this CD:

Russell Richards, who kindly donated the art for the front and back cover.

Anjali Lind, who played the strings for Save Me and The Secret Life of Mr. Punch.

Hope Clayburn, who played the horns on Home.

Malcolm Strachan, who played trumpet on Hallelujah and Save Me.

Here's the deal with Theory. The CD is done, and it has been mastered. It's all ready for production, but that costs money. So, I'm just waiting until I have some more money, and then I'll be putting out the CD. Hopefully it'll happen pretty soon.

I am working on a podcast right now that will be about the process of writing some of the music on this CD. It will likely be of interest mainly to budding songwriters, and people just getting started with their home studios. The first podcast will be about the song All Away. Since I played all the instruments on that song, I thought it might be interesting to break the song down and talk about the process of constructing it.
